Back to Indian Creek

News

2010.06.17

There are many good reasons to go to Indian Creek. The best reason is the very place, which in itself provides endless peace.

Desert landscape has its own charm with distinctive smells, colors and flavors. The days starts in stillness and ends in stillness. You are surrounded by good people. The weather is stable, and you are far from the internet and phones. You wake up when the sun hit the tent, and plunges into the sleeping bag a few hours after sunset, when the fire has burned out, the talks have ended and the cold begins to sneak up under your jacket.

The next best reason is carved there (read: the cracks...). They are in their thousands, they are varied, they are made of solid rock (mostly), they are beautiful to look at and fun to climb, easily secured and inviting. And then there are a whole bunch of other good reasons to go there,..including love.

For off-road activities on land or water...

Liquid Gear Shorts are durable, ultra-lightweight and feels just like a second skin on your body. They has built-in stretch and excellent moisture transport.

We dare to say that they probably are the most comfortable shorts available ...

Are you thinking of going to Spain or France for surfing? Jonte thinks you should go to Portugal instead. And we can only agree...

The water is perhaps colder but the Portuguese waves are many times bigger, and besides, you are not there to swim...
The people are friendly to tourists and most people are talking good English, I would also say that the price level is a little bit lower which are nice.
I can recommend too stay in tent, it costs about 2 Eur a night, this is when you bring your own tent. Portugal is not so large so rent a car and you can surf on the whole Atlantic coast in two three weeks. Beware thou, do not leave and values in the car, I myself have been robbed twice and one time someone broke into the car while I was surfing. The comic is that I have been robbed on the same wet suit twice, (but that’s another long story).
So go to Portugal for surfing. I have been in Portugal a dozen times and have not been disappointed yet, And then I still involuntarily sponsored local population three times

Waiting for climbing.....

Except for a two-week climb to Turkey it’s the SKIING it’s all about here
Trondheim now until April. The weekends spent in Oppdal and the day goes to;
1) eat long breakfasts, cooking endless cups of coffe
2)  focus enough to get on my clothes on, put the skins on my skis, cooking chocolate for the thermos, make giant packed lunches, and drive to the destination
3) Go for several hours uphill, sweating, swearing and wondering why you do this to yourselves.
- Then finally, today's goal,
4) Running on skis down the mountain in perfect powder.
Week ends preferably with a bottle of good red wine. This is (winter) life!
And if the temperatures continue to remain low, and the snow keeps coming, can I have ti wait for climbing a long time. In March however, I set myself on a plane to Denver, and I will spend 3 weeks in Colorado. Then I finally can use
my camalots and other climbinggear again. Good winter to you all!

More than six thousand spectators watched the world's best freeride skiers and snowboarders take on the impressive 600 vertical metre face of the Bec des Rosses in Verbier, Switzerland, for the Nissan Xtreme by Swatch, celebrating its 15th edition.

Norwegian skier Ane Enderud and Houdini friend has had an impressive season going from strength to strength. After cancelling the first stage of the Freeride World Tour because of back problems, she won two of the following competitions, and was second once. With that consistent result she was crowned Freeride World Champion on Saturday, defending her title from last year.
