The Houdini team and our friends - hardcore professional athletes in every sport imaginable - test each and every one of our products. So we know they can take whatever you and the world thow at them. Our designs come directly from the time that we, and our friends, spend climbing mountains, racing rivers and surfing the elements. We know that the clothes you wear are every bit as vital as any other piece of equipment in your pack. Houdini Friends is a group of professional athletes who share our passion for sports, the outdoors and for product development. Common amongst Friends is that everyone practices their respective sports at the highest level. For them, clothing is an equally important piece of equipment as their ice axe, skies or kayak. They are equally dependent upon and place the same demands on their clothing as they do on the rest of their equioment. Houdini Friends expose oiur products to the hardest imaginable trials and test them under the most extreme conditions. They are progressive in the way they look at products just as they are in practicing their sports. Houdini Core Comfort apparel is a complete layering system that is made up of everything from underwear to accessories. It's how we build you up, so you'll feel comfortable and confident going out into the world no matter what kind of sport you intend to do there. The physical benefits of maintaining a constant body temperature, what we call your "microclimate", are huge. By choosing the right combination of layers to suit your needs you'll be able to pack less, perform better and go further. Our Core Comfort system enables you to properly control your microclimate at any activity level, through any weather. When you play hard you get sweaty, which is not good when it comes to keeping warm and dry. Our garments compensate for this by moving moisture away from your skin and transport it to the outside. Each layer, from Base to Insulation and Shell, are equally capable of getting rid of unwanted liquid (of course we're just talking about sweat) while maintaining breathability. We're not just busy protecting your microclimate, we also make sure we're looking after the world's as well. By staying on top of technological advancements in sustainable materials, production and transport, we can implement them as soon as they are available - and we do!
Old Houdini clothes should never be thrown away: send them to us or leave them in the recycle-box at our retailers and they will be recycled into brand spanking new, environmentally friendly sportswear. How does it work? Let us tell you. Houdini Sportswear is the first European partner to the Japanese company Teijin's recycling system Eco CircleTM. Teijin is a global leader in recycling of polyester and has developed a process that reduces CO2 emissions by 77% and energy consumption by 84% (these figures are for the Japanese domestic market, but it gives you an indication of how large the environmental benefits are). ComfortIn the Eco CircleTM system polyester garments can be recycled an endless amount of times, without any reduction in quality. Each worn polyester garment that is returned to us for recycling is an environmental gain and with this system we will eventually be able to completely eliminate our need for crude oil. If you are unsure if the product can be recycled, just send or return the garment and we will determine that for you. Houdini - not just saving your butt - saving the world.
